i like nothing more than intense, emotive, slow burning electronic music. there have been many examples in recent years; from Battles post-tronica / math hybrid (see ATLAS as a prime example) to the layer-upon-layer avant-rave techno of Homework era Daft Punk (Rollin’ & Scratchin’ is a top of the pile example).
the whole EP is awash with long, dark ambience, clever sampling (at least it appears like samples) and beats that are both heavy hitting and lighter than a fairies smooch. It’s the sort of sounds I play when I’m DJing, especially to provoke a response from apathetic hipsters and indie loving beer swill students.
